Intel has confirmed that it will officially launch its Sandy Bridge processors at CES on January 5. The company has sent out an invitation confirming that it would launch its latest product at its CES keynote.

The chips, now badged “second generation Intel Core processors”, will be launched by PC Client Group general manager Mooly Eden. One of these will be the “world’s fastest processor,” the invite said.

Just to remind you, the Sandy Bridge will bring graphics components into the processor itself, allowing cache to be shared with the core for improved video performance.

Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) will accelerate media tasks and use a 256-bit instruction base designed to target its namesake floating point math for chores such as media editing.
